Do you think we should ban Jojo bows ? Discussion by Mollie and Silvie

For Mr Walker:

In Year 6, we have been discussing whether or not teachers ( ESPECIALLY MR WALKER ) should ban Jojo Bows. Lots of interesting points have been made. What do you think? Read on to make up your mind.

Some people believe that Jojo Bows should not be allowed in Year 6. Firstly, they claim that they are too colourful, big and crazy for school. Consequently, they should not be part of our uniform  they say. Mr Walker ( hater of Jojo bows ) states: “They make Year 6 children look like three-year-olds. Those bows are stupid!” Moreover, they could hurt your head they state. As a result, children will be fiddling with their bows instead of concentrating on work.

However, on the other hand, others powerfully think they shouldn’t be banned. They argue that they are unique and add fun to their uniform. This means that children will feel happier in their uniform – leading to them doing better work and getting higher grades. Furthermore, the bows cost a lot of money (£8-10), meaning that they would waste money if they were banned, they state . Ultimately, Mr Thurston ( bow supporter ) has claimed: “I  think Jojo Bows are really cool and they annoy Mr Walker so they are the best thing ever!”

After having considered both sides of the argument, it is obvious that Jojo Bows should NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT   NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT BE BANNED. Even though Mr Walker hates them – and thinks they are a distraction to his hard-working pupils – they bring joy to children and brighten up everybody (else)’s day.

Very well balanced, girls. Let’s see if it’s enough to make him reconsider his view.

HI girls. Thank you very much for writing this discussion for me. I have read it very closely and I was impressed by how much Mr Thurston has taught you about discussion writing. Some of the grammar is fantastic. The quotes are particularly good as well although I don’t remember saying that!

As you can see from your discussion, it is a hotly debated issue that is likely to continue for some time yet. I am yet to be convinced that they are a good idea and I think the only was would be to actually wear one myself to see if it has a positive or negative effect.

Perhaps a 1st person plea from a JoJo Bow itself may give me an insight into their feelings…..
